Auto-delivery: invoices in Shopify's own emails
Docket does not send email. That is a feature.
Shopify already sends your customers notification emails for order confirmations, fulfillment, and refunds. They come from Shopify’s infrastructure, they land in inboxes, and your customers already expect them. Auto-delivery puts the invoice link inside those emails.
How it works
- When an enabled Shopify order or refund event arrives, Docket generates the supported document and hosts the stored PDF at a stable link.
- You add a Docket snippet to the Shopify notification template once. This is a one-time, copy-paste edit in your Shopify admin, and Docket shows you the exact snippet and where it goes.
- From then on, every notification email of that type carries the customer’s document link. The customer clicks, gets their PDF.
There is no email account to connect, no sender domain to verify, and no second delivery service to monitor. The one-time Shopify notification-template edit controls which customer emails carry each link.
What this replaces
Without auto-delivery, an invoice reaches a customer one of two ways: you print and send it by hand, or a customer emails you asking for it. Both cost you time on every order. Auto-delivery costs you one template edit, once.
Which emails can carry a document
Docket provides snippets for these Shopify notification templates:
- Order confirmation: the invoice link.
- Fulfillment notification: invoice or packing slip, your choice.
- Refund notification: the credit note.
What the notification link serves
The notification link never re-renders live Shopify data. It serves the latest rendered Docket document stored for that order and document type. Each version remains its own immutable PDF/HTML record, but the same notification link can resolve to a newer stored version after Docket creates one.

What Docket does not do
Docket does not send email itself and does not send SMS. Delivery rides on the Shopify notifications you edit, so there is no second sender account or Docket-run deliverability system to configure. Quotes are not included in the notification snippets; share a quote’s hosted link manually.
