Getting set up: install to first document
Once installed and subscribed, Docket can generate documents from supported Shopify events. Before relying on an invoice or credit note for accounting, add the seller identity, VAT details, and numbering your business requires.
Install
- Install Docket from the Shopify App Store, choose monthly or annual, and approve the charge. Shopify then starts the 14-day trial if the shop is eligible.
- Approve the permissions Shopify shows you. Docket reads orders and draft orders to build documents from them.
- Open Docket from your Shopify admin. It appears under Apps with Unlimited access.
Generate or print your first document
Enabled document types begin generating from Shopify events as orders, refunds, and draft orders arrive. Generated PDFs appear under Documents.
To build a print run yourself:
- Open Bulk Print and choose real orders or draft orders.
- Filter by customer, date, fulfillment status, or tags, then select the results.
- Choose the document type and sort order. Quotes require draft orders. Credit notes require an existing Shopify refund.
- Start the run. Docket generates missing invoices, packing slips, or quotes when allowed and combines the selected PDFs into one file.
The default layout renders totals and order data without template code. Your logo, seller identity, VAT details, numbering, footers, and quote terms come from the settings you save.
What happens at generation
Every document fetches its Shopify source data at generation time, renders it in memory, and stores immutable PDF and HTML versions. The document you see later is the document Docket generated, not a re-render from live data. The stored record remains available while Docket is installed. See Where your documents live.
